Historic Lewtrenchard Manor reopens after £3 million refurbishment by independent hotel group Original Collection.
Independent hotel group Original Collection is excited to announce that Lewtrenchard Manor, a historic Grade II*-listed manor house hotel near Okehampton, Devon, has reopened its doors to guests, (25 July 2025), and bookings are open on the venue’s new website, www.lewtrenchardmanor.co.uk.
One of the UK’s fastest-growing boutique hotel collections, Original Collection has been granted a new long-term lease from Lewtrenchard Manor’s landlord The Baring-Gould Corporation. It has spent the past few months introducing modern luxuries and comforts to its new acquisition, while retaining the building’s much-loved historic character and charm.
The extensive renovations include a new roof and kitchen, new plumbing throughout to service new contemporary bathrooms, as well as improved parking. The traditional plasterwork and original features have been sympathetically restored and the hotel’s impressive antique collection has been reinstated. These improvements have created the perfect environment for a relaxing escape to the country for those who love to stay in historic, hidden gems while enjoying all the benefits of modern comforts.

The hotel restaurant will also reopen under a new name, Origin. Open to residents and non-residents alike, Origin’s plates will showcase the best of the South West’s produce with a focus on fine dining, offering both á la carte and tasting menus.
