Cotehele Christmas Garland

Devon’s National Trust properties host a range of festive events in the lead up to Christmas. You can browse the full collection here. One of our favourites is the famous Christmas Garland at Cotehele. The annual 60-ft garland takes pride of place in the Great Hall and is built by Cotehele’s gardeners using flowers grown on the estate.

Tavistock Dickensian Evening

Staying on the theme of historic throw-backs, this delightful late-night shopping event sees the historic market town of Tavistock revert back to Dickensian times. The streets fill with the smell of roasting chestnuts, shop owners dress up in traditional attire and there’s entertainment on every corner. Enjoy stilt walkers, street entertainers, choirs and bands, and there'll be lots of local food and drink. Arrive early to beat the rush.
